Compass Montessori STEAM Expo
Register to participate.
This year we have two levels of participation - student projects and student/parent projects. Students can display their projects on the morning of the Expo at their campus and at the evening celebration. The student/parent projects will be displayed only at the evening celebration. All participants are encouraged to register in advance to let us know about your project through this online form.
Projects should be student driven.
For the student projects, the ideas should come from the students, and the project should be driven by them. Parents should use their best judgment in deciding when to get involved, such as when there is a potential safety issue. For especially young kids, parents may provide some guidance, but it is important that the kids be able to call the project their own.
Working with someone else.
You may work on your project independently, or you may work with one to three partners who are also students at Compass Montessori.
Need help choosing a topic?
When it comes to choosing a topic, the sky is the limit! What have you wondered about? The best topics come from your own genuine curiosity about how something works, or why something is the way that it is. But if you have trouble thinking of something on your own, see our resource page.
Appraising Projects.
Our STEAM Expo is non-competitive, as our goal is to encourage scientific exploration and discovery and promote a deep lifelong curiosity and passion for creative problem solving. Each participant will have an opportunity to present their project to appraisers, who will ask questions and provide positive feedback.
Volunteers needed!
A big event like the STEAM Expo wouldn't be possible without the help of volunteers like you. We have all kinds of different jobs to be done, so if you think you can spare an hour or two on the day of the Expo, we would love your help. Please contact Michael Deru at michael.deru2@gmail.com and sign up now!
